As I was saying, so much food was wasted, however my sister did save some and bring it home for friends and family.  There are people in our communities around the country that go days without meals.  Why is it so difficult to give this food to shelters and other establishments where it can benefit these people?  I’ve heard it because there is so much red tape attached to donations like this.  If someone got sick they could sue and maybe that is true but why can’t there just be a simple waiver process where you forfeit any right to sue.  (don’t get me started on terrible it is we are so damn sue happy in this country)

I’m not a saint when it comes to food waste but I try to be conscious about it.  I look forward to seeing this new documentary about “dumpster diving” and a real look at how much good food is wasted.  Check out the trailer below.

One thing that I have always found disturbing is the idea of eating as a sport.  Seriously people, I love food as much as the next guy and I’ve challenged buddies to minute challenges but nothing like the hundreds or even thousands of competitive eating contests across America.

What are we thinking?  Here we are holding a contest to see how much food someone can stuff in their yap in hopes of winning some sort of prize.  Meanwhile we have people in our own country not to mention impoverish nations that struggle to get even the most basic of daily meals.  It’s deplorable.  It sickens me.  It’s a slap in the face to all the people that don’t have abundant food.  Eating is a necessity of life, NOT A SPORT.  We should be ashamed of ourselves.
